Paestum
For those tourists who are in Cilento or in the Salerno province it is not possible missing a visit to Paestum, one of the biggest Greek towns on the Tyrrhenian Sea. it was founded by Greeks with the name of Poseidon, it was then conquered by Lucans and later by Romans that gave to the town the current name. Paestum is the location of three magnificent Doric Temples among them there is the one attributed to Neptune that since then preserves the name even though many believe that it had been dedicated to Apollo. Today the te,mples are in excellent conditions. The Paestum archaeological area represents one of the most important archaeological sites in the world.
Capri
The wonderful island of Capri is situated in the Tyrrhenian Sea. It became famous in the 1826 after the discovery of the Blue Grotto, Capri together with Positano and Sorrento is the destination for travellers, intellectuals and showbiz stars. In the cobalt-blue sea is a sequences of grottoes and stacks. Among them, three are the most famous: Stella, Faraglione di mezzo, Scopolo. We recommend not to miss a visit of the Blue Grotto.
Pompeii
Pompeii is well-known for its ancient city buried in the 79 A.D. by the Vesuvius eruption. It is a town of very ancient origins rich in monuments and squares close to Naples. Everyone who is in Pompeii cannot absolutely miss a day visit into the famous Pompeii ruins famous all over the world. A visit to Villa dei Misteri and to the Sanctuary of the Vergine del Rosario.
Amalfi Coast
Amalfi is the biggest villages of the Amalfi Coast, the most ancient maritime Republic rich in history and art, declared World Heritage since 1997. The weather is warm all the year and this makes it the perfect touristic place chosen by thousands Italian and foreign tourists. Among all the monuments the Amalfi cathedral is the most important and well-known all over the world.
Padula
Padula is a little town of the Cilento National Park and Vallo di Diano. It is famous and known in the world thanks to the San Lorenzo Charterhouse declared by the UNESCO World Heritage since 1998. The charterhouse is one of the biggest in Europe and for those who are travelling in Cilento is a must-see stop.
